    Weight lifting only builds muscular strength, which is great if you’re only going for a type of look, but muscular strength without muscular endurance (which is what pilates builds) is not very practical, plus pilates also helps flexibility which is something weight lifters tend to lack which can lead to serious injury for them down the line.

    Pilates was actually CREATED by a man. I heard a story where he invented it while he was a POW and wanted a way to keep his body and mind sharp while he had no access to equipment. That’s hard AF!

    I am a man and I have been lifting weights for 10 years, and since 2013 Pilates is something I added it into my routine and I love it. Pilates is awesome and even if I cant get to the gym I do a mat workout and never miss a day of exercise. If I could restart my fitness journey I would have done Pilates my first year and then started lifting weights afterwards. By doing Pilates first for a year I would have built muscle, prepped my body for lifting weights and avoided some of the beginner mistakes I made in terms of lifting. I love Pilates!
